Do You Need a Personal Assistant?
Well,
You hired one but rarely use him.
You hired someone who can assist you with everyday life, but you (and I) often forget about this PA because he is invisible. He may be invisible to our human eyes, but he is very real. He is credible, trustworthy and reliable. His attributes far surpass any highly qualified person you can find out there.
Our dear heavenly Father gave me this epiphany the other day when I was daydreaming of hiring a personal assistant. Do you ever have those daydreams of having a helper at your disposal with that infinite to-do list?
Although you may need assistance (or command) with laundry, dinner, cleaning, errands, email, work and other ordinary chores, I think we urgently need assistance with some other more important things of life. Once we receive help with these things, the daily grind activities will fall into place in a more peaceful and grateful way.
Check out just a few of your Personal Assistant’s qualifications that go beyond a helping hand with commonplace needs:

“When did I possibly hire this incredible personal assistant?” you ask.
You hired a Personal Assistant when you accepted Jesus and received salvation. God sent you the Holy Spirit, described as the Helper, through the name of Jesus. Jesus describes this in John 14:26. Of course we did not really hire the Holy Spirit. I just used that phrase to help the human in us see the Holy Spirit, our actual helper, in a more earthly form. The Holy Spirit was given to us by God. Jesus wanted us to have this help. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will be an advantage to us (John 16:5).

But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And he will help you remember everything that I have told you.
I know you want an earthbound, physical helping hand; we all do! However this Helper can do things for you that will bring peace and joy to the daily activities of life; thus eliminating stress and making life easier. The wisdom and guidance that our Helper provides will make us walk out each day wiser to make better choices. The things-to-do list can become manageable and more enjoyable.
Before we get to the basics of how to utilize the Holy Spirit (our most fantastic PA of all time) on a daily basis, I want to start by letting you in on how the Holy Spirit feels about this job that he has been given. We will use this week to consider his thoughts and feelings about the role he was assigned by God, at Jesus request. This will provide a great foundation of faith in the Holy Spirit so we can move forward with letting our Helper absolutely help us. And hopefully he will become less invisible in our minds.
I read a lovely passage from Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young that will let you see the sweet nature of the Holy Spirit.
“Though the Holy Spirit is infinite,
He deigns to be your Helper.
He is always ready to offer assistance;
all you need to do is ask.”
(October 4, Jesus Calling)
Jesus speaks in John 14:16-17 AMP
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.
This week I want us to focus only on the first two sentences from this passage in Jesus Calling.
“Though the Holy Spirit is infinite,
He deigns to be your Helper.”
The Holy Spirit is infinite and absent of all limitation. He knows the past, the present and what lies ahead (the future). He has no limit to his power. But, he deigns to be your Helper. I had to investigate the word deign. It is not a word we commonly use. Deign has more than one definition. So God directed me to a definition that I feel is what Sarah Young wanted to convey. It comes from the origin of the word. Deign means “to deem worthy or fit” and “take or accept graciously.”
Although the Holy Spirit is a superior being with no limit in power, he accepted his role as our Helper graciously. He even deemed himself worthy or fit to take on this job for us.
When I visualize this, it warms my heart. I see God assigning this job of Helper to the Holy Spirit. Then I see this Almighty One graciously accepting the task. He accepts it to the point of regarding himself worthy and fit for the position. I believe in no way the Holy Spirit told God “Let me think about it before I commit.” My vision is the Holy Spirit (our Helper) was immediately pleased and honored at the request.
This week think about and try to visualize your Helper pleased and joyful when he was given this role in your life. Use Sarah Young’s words and/or John 14:16 as you meditate. If you want a super easy, yet powerful meditation for this study - simply ponder and deeply consider "He deigns to be your Helper" and the meaning of deign. That alone has made me fall deeper in love with the Holy Spirit, our sweet Helper.

The Holy Spirit deigns (deems worthy or fit; takes or accepts graciously) to be you Helper.
In the next few studies we will continue on this journey to learn to take advantage of our marvelous Helper sent from God. I love this very current theme of needing a Personal Assistant. I hope you don’t mind, but I may sometimes use the term PA to keep our view of the Holy Spirit as a real earthly helper, because he is just that.
